My Plate is Overflowing

Lately I have been feeling overwhelmed and stressed with my life. I don't know why I do this to myself. I take on way too much and hardly have time to breathe. Currently I am watching kids 9-11 hours a day, 5 days per week. I blog as often as possible. I run two Etsy shops (and haven't had a lot of time to put effort into them), I am planning Amelia's 5th birthday party, trying to spend time with family and I am taking an online photography class through the community college. I saw these pictures on Pinterest and instantly felt better. My house is a total disaster at the moment. I never have time to deep clean and organize this stuff. Seriously... we can't currently eat at the table because we still have Christmas stuff that needs to be put away. Ugh! But, If I had a spotless house on top of everything else I have going on, I'm pretty sure Amelia would be the one to suffer. As it is she mentions to me regularly that she doesn't get enough mommy snuggles. Time with her is more important than a spotless house... or a clean house for that matter.

So I have a few questions for you all...

What tools do you use to reduce stress in your life?

What is the one thing you tend to put off when you have a lot on your plate?

How do you try to stay organized?

  1. I make lists :) I couldn't survive without my planner and I make daily must do lists for myself. Then I keep other lists for long term projects. I also make lists for my husband to help me out :) Lucky for me, he accepts my lists with a smile. I also try to get things done once Olive goes to bed at night that way I'm not cutting into my time with her. My house isn't perfectly tidy and it could always use more cleaning than it gets but I just do the best I can. Baby steps are good for getting overwhelming things done :)

    1. I need to be better about making lists. I did get a planner for 2014 (first planner in years) and I'm thinking about getting a planner notebook to dedicate to my blog. Mark is a wonderful help. He makes dinner a ton and almost always does the dishes. I just start too many things or think I can squeeze it all in and something always ends up getting put on the back burner (Etsy shops).

  2. I'm another huge fan of lists, it helps me to have things written down somewhere so that I can refer back to it when my mind goes blank (which it does!). I signed up for the FlyLady cleaning prompts a while ago as well, which encourages tackling things a bit at a time so it seems less overwhelming. I'm still searching for a way of reducing stress myself, but I've come to a reasliation that I am only human and there's only so much one person can do - and if there's too much going on then something at the lower end of the priorities list gets put off. I don't think my house is ever going to be spotless because there just isn't time for that.

    1. I will definitely check out FlyLady. I want to get on more of a schedule so that I'm not constantly having these mad dash cleaning sessions. I also think I need to purge a lot of stuff. We don't need all of this junk lying about. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  4. You have to have time for YOU! I have days where I do absolutely nothing. No blogging. Nothing. It's necessary to re-charge!
