spring break has come to an end

"I'm ready for spring (spring break) to be over. I love you mommy, but I want to go back to school" - Amelia (kindergarten)

Spring break has come to an end. It seems like every time Amelia has a break from school and I want to do a lot of things with her, something prevents that from happening. I came down with the nasty cough/cold that she's had early on during her spring break. I still have sinus issues going on. There went our day trip to the beach, our visit to OMSI and all the other fun arts, crafts and outings I had planned. Thankfully Amelia is a really easy going kiddo and had a blast just hanging out. As "boring" as our spring break was, it was so nice to relax and spend time with my girl. Even though Mark was off from school as well, he still had to work the entire time and we didn't see a lot of him. Hopefully we won't have any sickness come up the first week of summer (his only week off). We did manage to do a few fun things.
Amelia got to spend the night with my mom and grandma. She helped my mom decorate the tree for Easter. My mom actually started this tradition when we were younger and my grandma liked it so she started doing it at her house as well. It's always a fun thing for the littles to help out with.

Amelia and I went downtown for a mommy/daughter date. We saw "School House Rock" put on by the Portland Children's Theater. It was a lot of fun. After we grabbed a drink at Starbucks and went shopping at Target to get a rug for her bedroom. It was such a great night! I have so many dates planned for us this summer. I can't wait.

Today my mom, Amelia and I went to see Cinderella. It was so incredibly good. Amelia has been quite a little dud lately, not wanting to go anywhere or do anything, so she was not excited about going to the movies. She laughed throughout and said it was 'wonderful'. Mom and I both agreed that it is a movie we would go and see again. Loved it!

The next couple of weeks are going to be busy for Amelia (and me too). She starts a new term of ballet tomorrow, Wednesday she starts dancing for a new studio doing a different type of dance and the Saturday after Easter she starts lacrosse. We are going to be running all over the place; Oregon City, Beaverton, Southeast Portland... I'm tired just thinking about it. It will be so fun though. I'm excited to see her trying to activities. Well, I've got some laundry to do and a school lunch to prep so I'm off for the night. I hope you all enjoyed your spring break. I'd love to hear about the adventures you went on. A 6 year check up

Before I even begin this blog post I have to share my excitement. I love a great deal! The coat that Amelia is wearing above was originally $112. I kind of have an obsession with buying coats for her, but I just couldn't spend that this winter. Fast forward a couple of months and I'm doing a little online shopping. I come across this coat again and it was on sale. They had one available and it was in Amelia's size!!! I paid $18!!!!! What an awesome deal!!! It is a little roomy on her so she will be able to wear it next fall and winter.
Skinny jeans - Vigoss
Boots - Stuart Weitzman
Coat - Jessica Simpson

We are half way through spring break and unfortunately we've been sick this entire time. Amelia has been battling a cough off and on since the first part of February and I came down with it this week. It is not fun!
FIRST DAY OF SPRING BREAK!!!
he takes such good care of his girl.
We went to Amelia's pediatrician today for her six year check up. He listened to her lungs since she's been sick for so long. He put her on some antibiotics so hopefully there is an end in sight to this sickness. We go back in two weeks to see how she's doing. Aside from the cold, she's as healthy as can be. She continues to be tall and slender. I'm not surprised that she charted 20% below where she was last year for her weight. She's such an active little lady. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the cough goes away soon!

We needed some fresh air after being cooped up at home. She wanted me to snap a photo of her and the cute ducks.

Hopefully we can spend the last few days of spring break doing some fun things instead of coughing the days away.

Friday Friday Friday!

Happy Friday All! Well this week flew by, but it was a pretty good one. The weather has been gorgeous, my week was less busy than normal, I got to meet up with a friend yesterday and Amelia seems to be feeling so much better than she was last week. All good things! We have a fun weekend ahead. Tomorrow we are going to an Irish Festival at Amelia's school with my family and Sunday I get to photograph newborn twins. Fun! Here is a recap of what our week looked like.

Amelia is such a great helper. She helps me shop, helps me clean the house and does chores without asking. Such a great kid!

Lacrosse starts next month for Amelia! She took advantage of the nice weather and has been practicing her skills. I can't wait to see how she does with a team sport.

Mark is gone a lot these days. He works more than full time and goes to school. His schedule is such that Amelia only gets to see him once every few days. She was definitely missing her daddy this week; leaving multiple voicemails for him and creating artwork to surprise him with. I'm glad she will have him to herself for a while on Sunday.

Gorgeous weather calls for outdoor art and hopscotch. I got this monster box of chalk for $3. Best deal... and a very happy girl!

We had one cold and rainy day this week which definitely called for a pot of chili. This was the best chili I have ever made. I think it's funny that I used to turn my nose up at this until I had Amelia. Now I'm a fan.

'Thank You' Thursday

Dear Husband,
I know we haven't gotten to hang out much lately, or even talk much for that matter, but thank you for stepping away from studying to hit up the New Season wok bar with me this week. It was nice to see your face. Also, thank you for getting a haircut. I like that you are always trying to be safe, but the helmet was getting a little too big.

Dear Amelia,
Thank you for being the most amazing kid! Even though you are so incredibly sick this week, you still have the most wonderful attitude. Also, I think we reached a major milestone in your life. One that I am truly thankful for. You haven't thrown up many times since you've been toddler age and beyond, but when you have I'm usually cleaning it up off of the floor (a perfect trail leading toward the bathroom). This week, you made it all the way into the bathroom before I was even aware of what was going on. You are growing up so fast.

Dear Fellow Photography Friend,
If you are reading this you know who you are. Thank you so much for recommending me and my paparazzi ways to a bride. I can't wait to add another wedding to the portfolio.

Dear Mrs. Naturopath at my nearby Zoomcare,
Thank you so much for your help in getting me on the right path to feeling better. Since July/August I have felt like a sluggish zombie who wants nothing more than to spend my days sleeping. Hopefully the vitamins and supplements you have me on will give me the energy I'm used to having... or at least get me to where the hours I'm awake in a day can be counted on more than one hand (okay... a slight exaggeration, but not too far off). Speaking of vitamins... let's give a big sarcastic shout out and Thank You to Oregon. Without your awesome weather my vitamin D level might rise above a 10 (but at least the 10 is better than the 8 I rocked at my last blood draw).

Dear Jamberry,
Thank you for the awesome nail wraps that I'm currently rocking! They stand up against motherhood so much more than just regular polish. Seriously, my nails chip in a day or two after being painted so I'm loving the wraps. They last a long time and are super cute! If you don't know what Jamberry is, you can head on over to my Facebook party and check it out.

What are you thankful for this week?
