A Snowed In Weekend

This weekend was both great and a total bummer at the same time. We were snowed in since the roads around here were so nasty. I didn't watch any littles on Friday because of the weather so it was a 3 day weekend for Amelia and I. We played a ton in the snow, spent a lot of time snuggling, watched some movies, played a bunch and had a blast. The downer to this weekend is that we had to cancel Amelia's birthday party because it wasn't safe for people to drive over. Now I know this might seem silly to those states who get snow all winter long, but we never do so Oregon seems to be on the unprepared side. Our roads end up like ice rinks and there are always so many accidents. Thankfully we live in a fun neighborhood and were able to get out, enjoy the snow and hang out at a local cafe.
These formed on our gutter last night

This snow storm was the first time she's ever been on a sled of any sort.
Today Mark decided to work (he works at a hospital) since some of his co-workers weren't able to make it in. I spent the day hanging out with Amelia and working on my photography homework. We had this cool assignment where we were to create panoramas out of at least 7 photos we took and then turn them into what are called "little planets". Here is what one of mine looked like.

That was our weekend. Amelia's party was rescheduled for next weekend so I'm excited for that. Her actual birthday is Wednesday. I had to schedule an appointment so I made it for that day. If I have to take a day off, it might as well be my girl's birthday. I told her we could do whatever she wants. It will be fun to see what she comes up with.

  1. Cool picture!! Glad you have a few extra days to prepare for the party and hopefully that'll give your city enough time to thaw out :)

    1. Thanks. I am glad I have a few extra days to clean :) Most of the snow is gone now... if we have anything it's just slush.

  2. Wow, I love the "Little Planet" picture. I think most of the US is ready for all of the snow to go away! UGH! Glad you made the best of the situation!

    1. I wish it would have stuck around a little longer. We never really get snow... well maybe like once every 5 years so it is exciting for a lot of us Oregonians.

  3. That picture is so cool! I'm surprised Oregon doesn't get much snow... I picture it being very snowy there for some reason!

    1. Some parts of Oregon get snow every year, just not where we are in the valley (Portland area). It was so fun to finally get some.
