One - The magic this time of year brings. I have always loved this time of year, but that love multiplied greatly after Amelia was born. Watching her experience things for the first time is the best thing ever! The jumping up and down and giggling when we decorate, her little voice saying 'Happy Holidays' to people we come across while out and about, the handmade gifts she creates all on her own and that sparkle in her eye when we talk about Santa and Elves. Also the interest she has in learning about Jesus' birthday and what the true meaning of Christmas really is. I love how magical it all is!
Amelia with Santa 2012. We have yet to go see him this year |
Two - Family! I love spending time with my family and I get a double dose during the holidays. So much fun!
Christmas 2011. Us girls with our Grandma Grace |
Three - Crafting. Need I say more.
Crafting day with the cousins |
Four - Giving gifts. I love picking out or making that perfect gift for family and friends. I think I get more excited to give people gifts than to receive them.
Christmas 2012 |
Five - Christmas Trees. Picking out the perfect tree, lighting it up and putting ornaments as old as I am on it. I could seriously sit in my recliner with a cozy blanket, hot cup of tea and look at the tree for hours.
Amelia's very first Christmas tree - 2009. She always gets her own |
Six - Stepping into Starbucks to enjoy a hot drink after being out in the cold.
Seven - Snow and frost. We don't really get snow where we live, but we do get snow in the hills surrounding us. We try to head to Mt. Hood at least a couple times a year. We see a lot of frost though.
Eight - Egg nog! I LOVE EGG NOG!
Nine - Last year a new favorite was added to my list... The Nutcracker. I have always loved The Nutcracker and really enjoy going to the professional ballet that comes to Portland. Last year Amelia's dance studio put on the Nutcracker and it was amazing! I still can't believe how great it was! They have been rehearsing so hard for the past few months and I can't wait to see this year's performances next weekend. I'm so glad she gets to be a part of something so wonderful.
Amelia is on the left, her friend on the right |
Ten - Bundling up. Scarves, hats, mittens and coats... Love it all!

ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! Congratulations! Do you know what you are having?
DeleteIt was fun to see a baby Amelia picture! We always get a real tree too. Many of your favorites are on my to do list for this holiday season.
ReplyDeleteThanks Whitney! I should write up a post and share some pics of her from birth and up. There is just something so great about going out and getting a tree... the smell is amazing!
DeleteI think that it is so adorable that your little girl gets her own little tree.
ReplyDeleteI always had one when I was little... although I remember mine being a lot smaller than the ones she picks out. Since she was born in February and my baby shower was the December before, everyone who attended brought a Christmas ornament for her. The fragile ones go on our big tree, but she puts a lot on her tree as well. It's so cute.
